WHAT IS VITAMIN C RAW MATERIAL?

Vitamin C powder, also known by the INCI name “Ascorbic Acid,” is a vitamin and essential nutrient that is water-soluble and is commonly incorporated into formulations for makeup, skin care, hair care, and personal care products.

Vitamin C is available in various forms, the most popular being L-Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, and Retinyl Ascorbate. NDA’s Vitamin C is L-Ascorbic Acid, an unadulterated form that is thought of as being “The King of Vitamin C” due to its high stability and potency, making it the most ideal form for use in skincare products.

WHAT DOES VITAMIN C RAW MATERIAL DO?

When added to cosmetics preparations, Vitamin C powder helps to regulate the final product’s pH level and it helps to prevent the formulation from the deterioration that may result when it is exposed to air. With protective and strengthening properties, Vitamin C powder is known to guard the skin against damaged caused by environmental factors that cause topical stress, such as excessive exposure to the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. A Vitamin C-enriched sun protection product exhibits enhanced potency when used in combination with a sunscreen.

Known for the firming, soothing, brightening, smoothing, and balancing effects it has on the skin, Vitamin C powder is reputed to help enhance the skin by addressing problems with texture and discoloration as well as any irritation. It is traditionally applied to cosmetics preparations to regenerate and strengthen collagen, to balance the tone, to calm inflammation, to boost the complexion’s natural radiance, to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines as well as other signs of aging. APPLICATIONS FOR VITAMIN C RAW MATERIAL

To incorporate powdered Vitamin C into a formulation, it can be added to the water phase at a ratio of 5% to 90% water.

VITAMIN C RAW MATERIAL SIDE EFFECTS

As with all other New Directions Aromatics products, Vitamin C Raw Material is for external use only. It is imperative to consult a medical practitioner before using this product for therapeutic purposes. Pregnant and nursing women as well as those with sensitive skin are especially advised not to use Vitamin C Raw Material Raw Material without the medical advice of a physician. This product should always be stored in an area that is inaccessible to children, especially those under the age of 7.

Prior to using Vitamin C Raw Material, a skin test is recommended. This can be done by dissolving 1 tsp Vitamin C Raw Material in 1 Tbsp of water and applying a dime-size amount of this blend to a small area of skin that is not sensitive. Vitamin C Raw Material must never be used near the eyes, inner nose, and ears or on any other particularly sensitive areas of skin. Vitamin C powder must never be blended into another product that already contains Vitamin C or that is already acidic, as this may lead to unsafe concentrations.

Potential side effects of Vitamin C Raw Material include skin irritation, tingling, and redness. In the event of an allergic reaction, discontinue use of the product and see a doctor, pharmacist, or allergist immediately for a health assessment and appropriate remedial action. To prevent side effects, consult with a medical professional prior to use. 

Due to Vitamin C’s susceptibility to oxidation it is highly recommended that all products made with it be packaged in darkly colored jars in order to be kept away from moisture, heat, and light. When oxidized, the discoloration will cause the product’s color to appear brownish. Furthermore, the product will become ineffective and may potentially cause skin damage.
