DESCRIPTION

Glyceryl Stearate SE is a versatile and highly effective secondary emulsifier and thickener, sold in bead form with little to no odor. Also known as Glyceryl Monostearate, this variety is crafted from the naturally derived fatty acids of vegetable oils such as Soy and Palm Kernel Oil. This results in a white or off-white wax-like texture produced through the esterification of Glycerin and Stearic Acid. The "SE" stands for "Self-Emulsifying," highlighting its capability to create stable emulsions due to the inclusion of Sodium Stearate and/or Potassium Stearate.

In neutral-to-slightly-alkaline formulations, Glyceryl Stearate SE excels as a stabilizer, opacifier, and emollient. Its thickening properties minimize the need for additional emulsifiers in many oil-based formulations. Moreover, it has the unique ability to form liquid crystalline and/or crystalline gel phases in emulsions with a high water content, enhancing the texture and stability of the final product.

DIRECTIONS AND SUGGESTED USAGE

• Emulsifiers in Lotions and Creams: To achieve a smooth and stable emulsion in creams and lotions, use Glyceryl Stearate SE at a concentration of 1-5%. Incorporate it into the oil phase and melt at 60ºC / 140ºF.

• Hair Care Formulations: To improve the consistency and efficacy of conditioners, leave-in treatments, and styling products, add Glyceryl Stearate SE to the formulation at 1-3%.

• Luxurious Soapmaking: To achieve a creamy consistency and rich lather in your soap products, add Glyceryl Stearate SE at a concentration of 1-5% with a matching saponification value. Melt and combine with other oils at 60ºC / 140ºF, then proceed with your soapmaking process as usual.

• Oil-Based Products: For a silky-smooth consistency in your waterless, oil-based products such as balms, salves, and ointments, use 1-5% Glyceryl Stearate SE as the sole thickener. Melt it at 60ºC / 140ºF and blend with your chosen oils to create a smooth, stable product.
