DESCRIPTION
Extracted from the Shea Nut, Shea Butter - Crude (Ghana) - Fair Trade is a completely natural product. While batches may vary to some extent, this butter typically has a strong, nutty, rich, oily aroma with a slight smoky end note. Known for its moisturizing and emollient properties, it's a perfect addition to sustainable skin care products.
This African butter is a perfectly imperfect natural ingredient, so you will see variances in color, including white or gray streaks and darker spots.
If you are looking for a mild aroma and a more consistent texture, consider purchasing our Shea Butter - Refined - Deodorized (Ghana) or Shea Butter - Ultra Refined - Verified by ECOCERT.
DIRECTIONS AND SUGGESTED USAGE
-
All-Natural Skin Care: This Shea Butter can be used at 2-20% to enhance the quality of lotions and creams. Before adding the natural raw butter, temper it. Gently and slowly heat until liquid, then cool completely. The melting point can range from 32°C to 35°C (or about 90 °F to 95°F). Tempering will improve the texture of the final product by reducing the potential for graininess. When it is time to make your product, use a hand blender, swirl your cream or lotion and drizzle in the melted butter to incorporate.
-
Moisturizing Soaps & Shaving Creams: Add at 1 tablespoon per pound, or about 5-20% to benefit from African Shea Butter's soothing properties. As it is a raw material, results may vary. We strongly recommend conducting small, lab-scale batches prior to any commercial manufacturing.
-
High-Quality Hair Conditioning: Shea Butter is an excellent natural conditioner for hair and should be incorporated into hair care products at 1-10%. It's known for moisturizing properties that nourish and hydrate both the hair and scalp. Shea Butter contains Vitamins A and E, nutrients that promote healthy hair.
-
Creamy Massage Butters: Shea Butter - Crude (Ghana) - Fair Trade adds a wonderful creaminess to massage butters, along with many nutrients.
