DESCRIPTION
Anise Star Essential Oil is derived from the fruit of the Illicium verum, a small to medium-sized evergreen tree from the magnolia family. Native to regions such as Southeast Asia, the Illicium verum tree grows up to 8 meters (26 feet) and produces tough-skinned, rust-colored seed pods that measure up to 3 cm in length. These star-shaped fruits are harvested before they ripen and are then carefully sun-dried to preserve their potent aromatic properties.
In traditional practices, especially in Japan, the Anise Star tree is often planted in temples and near tombs, with its bark being used as incense. The oil extracted from its fruits captures this rich history and the distinctive aroma reminiscent of liquorish, making it a valued ingredient in both aromatherapy and personal care formulations. Revered for its purity, Anise Star Essential Oil tends to solidify at cooler temperatures. If this happens, gently warming it will return it to its liquid state.
